Justin Angelo Martin (b. 2001) is a visual artist who composes compelling works relating to his fascination of life patterns. His work displays themes of beauty found in solidarity, exploring through nature and human figures. Justin works with a variety of mediums including traditional art with drawings and paintings, digital photography, and graphic design. He describes his body of work as a mending of traditional art practices with an abstract eye. Justin’s work draws focus on an isolated subject and conveys the range of emotions felt in solidarity. He uses his artistic practices to depict this state merely as a scene in time, in search of peace.

His interest in creating artworks is to allow the audience to view his work depicting scenes of life from the same appreciation in which he exists with. 

 

Growing up with his family in northern New Jersey, he was inspired by nature throughout his life. Justin dove into art at an early age, drawing from observation and his imagination. Living near New York City, Justin’s mother often took him to art museums as a child. He was exposed to exhibits featuring famous artworks at a young age, which impacted him as a young artist. He began attending art classes at a nearby art center around the age of nine, where he received formal teaching on drawing and painting fundamentals. Justin was led to drawing and painting throughout his youth and teenage years, expressing interests in other mediums as well. He later chose to pursue his Associate in Applied Science in Graphic Design, and his Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Upon completing his college studies, Justin was led to further improve his traditional art skills while also discovering his passion for other mediums. Through his graphic design studies, working with a variety of programs inspired him to create digital artwork and focus on poster designs. During this time, he also discovered his love for digital photography. He discovered his fascination with mixed media artwork as well, using it as an outlet to connect his various artistic passions.

Justin’s early years of adulthood have been filled with multiple interests. He has experience with clothing merchandising and launching his own clothing line, working as an entrepreneur, creative director, and designer (Free At Last). Justin is also an experienced fashion model in New York City. He has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar España as well as Shiseido for an international makeup campaign. 

Justin also has nearly seven years of customer service experience. He currently works as an art gallery intern in Montclair, NJ.

Justin’s artwork has been featured in multiple group exhibitions at Brooklyn Art Cave in Bushwick, NY (2023).

 

Justin continues to work as a visual artist primarily focusing on oil painting, graphite, charcoal, and pastel drawings, digital photography, and poster design.
